Academic Writing Workshop Series

This is a four-part series on writing at an advanced academic level such as a research paper at a Master’s level. I take you through the basics of writing an academic research paper with loads of practical tips in this four-part series that I put together in 2020 for the Advanced Writers Workshop offered by the Indian Christian Theological Forum for registered participants from India.

This series of presentations was prepared for advanced learners in the domain of theological writing in India. However, the broad strokes to advanced research writing that this series puts forward are applicable to academic writing at an advanced level in other domains or fields of study as well.

Learning objectives for the series:

At the end of this four-part series, it was hoped that:

1) learners will be equipped with academic writing strategies that will enable them to emerge as confident and stronger writers who are able to effectively articulate their conceptual understandings and research findings in an organized manner following best practices in academic and intellectual integrity; and

2) writers will articulate from, and bring into their writing, the Indian/South Asian nuances, discourses, theological lenses, and issues, and thus effectively amplify the South Asian context and the South Asian voice in global theological discourses and spaces.

What this series covers?

This four-part series is not an in-depth, but an introductory series that covers the following aspects of writing a research paper:

Session 1: Pre-Writing

Session 2: Body of a Paper

Session 3: Conclusion

Session 4: Introduction

I offer this series in this resources section for those who may wish to use it as a self-learning resource or for those who may wish to use it to run a workshop on this topic for a small group of learners.

I encourage individual self-learners to use the group work activities in each session even if you are using this as a self-learning resource.

Extra resources like links to practice exercises and links to resources that I used to put this course together are also offered for your reading and use.

Happy academic writing!
